The One When we Explore

For the next two days we decided to walk around the city and explore. Whilst we were walking down Oak street when we stumble upon a group of people who were taking a group guide. As we knew nothing about San Francisco’s history or where the hottest cafés were so we decided to tag along. From him we learnt that San Francisco was founded in 1977 when colonists from Spain built a fort at the Golden Gate, the strait that connects San Francisco Bay to the Pacific Ocean. From the California Gold Rush, when they discovered gold in California, San Francisco grew fast and making it the largest city on the West Coast 1849. The thing that surprised me most though were the fact that the Alcatraz Island is located in San Francisco Bay. For those of you that do not know what that is it is the island of where the famous Alcatraz prison is located. The prison is not in function, the prison was up and running from 1934 to 1963.

Here we have the Alcatraz Island with the former federal prision.

We worked up an appetite during the guides tour and when he finished it was time for dinner. We wandered off through the twist and turns around Golden Gate Park. Whilst we were cruising through the park we saw that there were many different kinds of restaurants witch meant that you could get food from different kinds countries. We finally settled for Thai food, my favourite, and found a place in the Outer Sunset neighbourhood. Marnee Thai was the restaurants name. I loved the food there, we both were full when we walked out of the restaurant. We took a cable car back to out hotel and fell asleep amidiently.

My dinner, Panang Chicken Curry ($9.95), chicken with coconut milk, broccoli and rice, perfection!
